CVPR 2000

Second Call for Demonstrations

IEEE Computer Society Conference on

Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition

http://cvpr2000.cs.uiuc.edu/demos.html

While the deadline for including demo summaries in the CVPR proceedings has expired, we expect that we will be able to accomodate a limited number of additional demos in the CVPR Demonstration Session whose summaries will not be published in the proceedings.

Authors whose papers have been accepted at CVPR that are interested in giving a live demo of their system are especially encouraged to submit a demo proposal.

Purpose:

CVPR's demonstration session is an opportunity for members of the vision and pattern recognition research communities to present and exchange ideas in an interactive way. A key feature of this session is the on-going live demonstrations given by its participants. These demonstrations present all or part of a working system developed for Vision and Pattern Recognition tasks. We encourage both Industry and Academic organizations to participate in this session.

Important Dates:

Deadline for receipt of demonstration proposals April 15th 2000
Acceptance notification by May 1st 2000

Proposal Submission Instructions:

Submission of a CVPR demonstration proposal consists of the following three steps, to be performed by the deadline date:

  1. Demonstration information: An email in simple raw text should be sent to kyros@cs.rochester.edu containing (1) the title of the demonstration, (2) the list of participants and their affiliations, (3) the phone, email and fax of the main contact person, (4) equipment you will bring with you, (5) equipment you are asking CVPR to try to provide, (6) average time to run a demonstration, and (7) a list of published papers, if any, that describe the demonstrated system in more detail.
  2. Video clips (optional): You are also encouraged to submit video clips (in MPEG or QuickTime format) in support of your proposal. A web page containing summaries and video clips of accepted demonstrations will be available after acceptance decisions are made. Video clips can be submitted via ftp:
    ftp ftp.cs.rochester.edu
         Name: anonymous
         Password: <your email address>
         ftp> binary
         ftp> cd pub/cvpr-demos/incoming
         ftp> put <FILENAME>
Please use the convention "author-name.ext" for naming video clips, where "ext" is the extension appropriate for the clip's video format. Note that it is crucial to employ "binary" transfer and that the incoming/ directory is write-only.

Interested participants are encouraged to check last year's CVPR demostration web page. If accepted, you will need to bring a poster for use in the session. You are also encouraged to bring along a video demonstration. For those people who are reluctant to ship monitors, we are willing to entertain providing monitors by special arrangement. We encourage participants to bring as much of their own equipment as possible.
