11/30/99
The deadline for video submissions is the same as for hardcopies of papers, Friday December 3.
Both Davids have discussed the question of moving the deadline - in fact, we discussed it before we set the deadline. There were two options:1) to set the deadline artificially early, and then slip it to loud shouts of relief or
2) to set the deadline where the operations issues forced it to be so that we could
get things done on time (we need to allocate papers to area chairs, so that reviewers
get papers before Christmas break). We decided to do the latter. Basically, we set the deadline up such that we could allocate papers to area chairs on time - that is, this is a pre-slipped deadline, meaning that no extensions are possible.
However, we're not unreasonable. We won't refuse to handle things that come late, if they don't miss our internal deadlines for handling papers. In practice, this means that we can guarantee to handle papers that arrive on Friday, Dec. 3 We will be allocating papers to area chairs that weekend. We are unlikely to be able to handle papers that arrive after Dec. 3.
Please note that the web site will still close on Nov. 29.
Paper submission consists of both paper and on-line submission actions:

The submission page limit has been relaxed to a MAXIMUM OF 8 PAGES in
the approved
CVPR camera-ready page format, However,
camera-ready copies of accepted papers are limited to 6 proceedings pages
free of charge. Authors may purchase a maximum of 2 additional
proceedings page at a cost of $200 per page. Papers accepted for
either oral or poster presentation receive the same number of pages
within the proceedings. Unless the reviews recommend shortening,
the published copy of an accepted paper should NOT be a significantly shortened
version of the reviewed manuscript. Therefore, it is understood that authors
electing to submit seven-page papers intend to purchase at least one extra
page in the proceedings should their submissions be accepted. A LaTeX
style file is available to assist authors in conforming to the IEEE
standard.
A Microsoft
Word Template File is also now being made available to CVPR authors.
The Word Style File was prepared by the IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science
and this is the first time our community has used it. If you use the Word
Style File, please double check that your manuscript conforms to the approved
CVPR camera-ready page format and inform us if any problems are found
with the style file.
An FTP facility, ftp-cvr.ai.uiuc.edu, has been established for authors to upload movie clips in support of their submissions for review purposes. Submitted papers should refer in the text to supporting movies as "Movie 1", etc. Authors should name the associated movie files that they upload to the FTP site using the convention "nnn-1.ext", etc., where "nnn" identifies the submission number assigned to the paper when an author registers the submission online at the CVPR 2000 WWW site and "ext" is a standard movie file format extension (e.g., mpg, mpeg, avi, mov). Uploaded files not adhering to this convention will be deleted. Access the FTP site in the usual way, e.g.:
Note that it is crucial to employ "binary" transfer and that the
incoming/ directory is write-only. The FTP site will be closed to incoming
transfers on 12/01/99 and the contents will subsequently be made accessible
